Sometimes called ?major logic? or the ?theory of knowledge?, epistemology is much needed in our age because, in general, most modern philosophies such as: skepticism, uncritical dogmatism, positivism, scientism, materialism, phenomenalism, etc labor within an atmosphere of epistemological error. Epistemology is to metaphysics what apologetics is to theology: it gives the mind confidence in it?s competency to know the immaterial or spiritual realities, as well as a knowledge of the limits of that competency.
